PricePi — e-Commerce Aggregator for Comprado

Comprado is the leading Swedish service for finding, comparing and booking products and services near you. Client hired Sibers team to work on their project PricePi.

PricePi is an e-commerce aggregator, which parses approximately 120,000 websites, finds products and stores them in the internal database along with the URLs and images. A user can search for products using partial names, price filters and color preferences. The search results are the thumbnails and the links to the actual shops. The monetization is performed thanks to affiliate networks. PricePi visitors receive cookies from affiliate networks, so that the fact of purchasing could be tracked back via affiliate information.

Sibers team has reworked the PricePi infrastructure and deployed it on AWS cloud. Currently it works on about 12 physical servers located in the Comprado office. For these purposes, we have the internal PricePi code working within the AWS cloud. This includes “containerization” for AWS Elastic Container Service (Kubernetes), and reworking the product indexing to ElasticSearch.

An interesting feature of PricePi is a color recognition algorithm for each product image and immediate marking of the products with a “color” tag. So, when a user searches for a “green sofa”, PricePi pulls all the sofa images with the “green” tag.
