Holopic — View 3D pictures on Android, Facebook, and the Web without glasses
Our customer is a professional photographer who has a PhD in optics. In 2009 he created his own innovative patent technology in photo sphere. This technology allows users to create pseudo-3D pictures from many ordinary photos. The user simply takes several ordinary pictures of an object, and then specialized computer tools transform the image into one picture rotated by means of device motion.
Work on the Holopic project at Sibers included simultaneous development of four independent parts of this product:
- Holopic touch screen application for Android;
- Holopic application for Facebook that detects user’s face using web-camera face recognition;
- Holopic web application with user interface to build own holopics;
- Holotools PC desktop application that actually creates these holopics from ordinary pictures.
The server side of Holopic downloads images sequence in a special format (.holow) and, using acceleration gage, forms a pseudo-3D picture.
