A Bid For Change — Charity online auction platform

ABidForChange is a full-featured auction website aiming to help local small businesses and provide a way to big companies to give back to the community through the charity.

The auction works in the following way:

Local businesses contribute their goods and services to the auction. 50% of the net sale proceeds go to charities and non-profit organizations chosen by the seller. Businesses receive up to 25% as a thank you for the support of the project. The rest is used by ABidForChange to provide technical and marketing maintenance of the auction.

Sibers developed for ABidForChange the user-friendly platform based on Symfony framework with full auction functionality:

• User Registration: creation of buyer or seller account. Charity accounts can be registered only by administrators after an approval;
• User Management: add/edit profile information;
• Seller Features: add/edit/delete selling product, seller doesn’t have an ability to bid on items;
• Buyer Features: bid on the products, add products to the watch list, view purchase history, buyer doesn’t have an ability to sell products;
• Charity Features: add/edit profile information, counter on the profile page showing total amount of money raised. Charity accounts can’t sell or bid on products;
• Image Management: images uploaded by seller for a product description would be automatically resized and cropped to fit a specified size;
• Product Overview: auction list shows current price, image, a brief description, number of bids and auction status;
• Search Management: user can search goods within the list of products related to the particular category, seller or charity;
• Bidding and Payment: upon winning or outbidding an item, buyer receive an automatic notification e-mail with link to the product. In case of winning buyer also receives a link to the checkout page with payment options.
