The Nudge — A Guide to Adventurous Life
The Nudge is a lifestyle guide, which has naturally evolved from Livday — as a result of experimenting with the channel, through which the service communicates to its users.
Keeping the core initial idea — offering ready-made itineraries for how to spend an awesome day in San Francisco, the app at the same time has been fundamentally changed in it’s philosophy.
Project background
The start to this shift was given in summer, 2017. At that time the app’s founder, John, heading into the weekend, texted a Livday hike plan to a small group of pilot users. And a week later it turned out that every single one of these users had done the hike which was advised in the SMS!
Solution
Thus, today’s full name of the app, used on social networks and as a service’s domain name, is nudgetext, as it reflects the way the service delivers itineraries to it’s users. The user doesn’t need to browse through dozens of itineraries and make the choice each time he thinks of going out. Instead, three times a week he receives an SMS with a single “nudge” with an idea of what to do at the weekend or in the evening. So, the app is just another friend texting the user.
The workflow of the app is the following:
- The user reads a short itinerary description in the SMS and, if he is interested, could click on a link in it. The link leads to a full itinerary, which could be opened via the mobile app or on the website.
- If the user likes the adventure, he can save it in his account and give it a like.
- Besides, the app tells the user which of his contacts are also interested in the same activity, and makes it extremely easy to invite those he wants via text.
Along with implementation of changes in functionality, Sibers team has made the app dozens of times faster, literary — by optimization of data loading and client-server interaction processes.
Results
The app raised a 540,000$ “pre-seed” round in July, 2018. And in four months after that 10 000 millennials in SF were already subscribed to The Nudge. Thus, The Nudge team is very optimistic about the app’s future and is going to expand to other US cities soon.
The motto of the service is “Love and Adventure”, ’cause, as the app’s founder says, “at the end of the day that’s what life is all about”. Sibers team fully agrees!
