Sibers developed the full-functioning prototype meant for demonstration to investors.
This app uses an external device for temperature measuring — IR Temp Probe. This is a compact infrared ear thermometer that looks like a mono iPod ear bud headphone. The IR Probe sends out a pulse width modulated (PWM) waveform whose duty cycle is proportional to the temp measured. This thermometer plugs into an iPhone headphone jack and transmits data to the application. Then the application collects this data and shows various graphs with information about the user’s temperature.
Temperature data and a timestamp are saved as ASCII under a user defined name. This data can optionally be sent by email as a text file. As an alternative to sending PWM signals to the device’s microphone input, formatted temperature data can be sent to the iPhone USB port on the docking connector.
The application was never meant for open distribution through the App Store and is intended for internal use at a medical institution.
