Digital sports coach — Advanced golf ball striking analysis

This sports technique teaching app helped the athlete, utilizing it heavily while training, to win the Olympic gold and hold a world record.

The app analyses video, captured by two cameras (installed behind and on the side of the trainee), constructs the athlete’s personalized stick-figure model, and, taking in consideration his body parameters, represents optimal performance he may show.

The algorithm is based on scientific achievements of biomechanics and the statistics of the best performance best athletes in the world have ever shown.

The app could be used in three sports: initially is was built for golf, and later adapted for track and field and football.

While, for instance, researching the mechanics of golf, hundreds of videos with swing motion, performed by the best world golf players were analyzed. The movements were digitized, describing where each segment of the body in every particular moment of movement is located. Analysing golf movements, the system constructs the model of the athlete, taking in consideration not only his body parameters, but also the type of the club is used (woods, irons, hybrids) and the preset swing speed. After being calculated, the ideal performance of the golfer is represented by the custom stitch figure, overlaid on the captured video.

All the tapes can be sent to the web repository, and be available for reviewing any time the sportsman needs. A teacher can record a voice over the tape to provide it with better theoretical clearness.
