Sounddogs — Online library containing 700 000+ sound effects

Launched in 2001, this online library for sound professionals today contains more than 700,000 unique sound effects and production music tracks. In 2010s, when it required renewal, Sibers team has rebuilt the whole system in Java, including both, server- and client-side.

A user can search for sound effects, utilizing logical operators “AND” or “NOT” and browse through tracks, classified by themes. Once the track is found, the user can listen to its lower-quality preview via waveform player. If the whole track isn’t needed, one can cut out a part of it specifying start and end time, and pay only for this chosen piece. The system as well allows to obtain just a single channel of a multi-channel track.

Sibers has also developed an unmanned audio uploader, intended to streamline the system’s administrator’s work. Due to the huge number of tracks the library contains, a standard file uploading solutions (JavaScript-based or based on existing Java libraries) were not suitable for SoundDogs. Now, if the uploading process is interrupted for some reason, the page is automatically reloaded and the process starts from the point it was interrupted.
